Equity ASM, THE GOSPEL AT COLONUS

Court Theatre, a department of the University of Chicago in Hyde Park, is seeking candidates for an Equity Assistant Stage Manager.

Department: Court Theatre Production Department 
Position: Equity ASM, The Gospel at Colonus
Classification: Union Stage Manager under LORT D agreement 
Contract Duration: 10 – 12 weeks depending on extension 
Reports To: Director of Production, PSM 
Salary Range: $925/week 

Summary:

Court Theatre is hiring an experienced Equity ASM for 2023 spring production of The Gospel at Colonus. There is also the potential to continue with the show when it tours to Southern California in the early fall of 2023. Candidates should have experience navigating a rehearsal and production process as an ASM and be comfortable working with a variety of personalities, anticipating, and solving problems quickly and efficiently, and tracking show operations with great attention to detail. ASM will also assist the PSM in facilitating understudy rehearsals.

Location:

Rehearsals will take place at the Court Theatre Production Center, 5410 S. State St. (Accessible via Garfield redline station. Free parking in a private lot is provided.)

All technical rehearsals and performances will take place at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave. (Accessible via Garfield red line station & #55 bus. Parking is not provided but street parking in the area is mostly free.)

Key Dates:

Prep week: April 4
First rehearsal: April 10
First Tech: May 4
First preview: May 12
Opening: May 20*
Closing: June 11
Extensions: June 18 or June 25

Rehearsals are Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10am – 7pm. Tech rehearsals are 12pm – 10pm (8/10s).
Performances are Wed 10:30am, Wed 7:30pm, Thurs & Fri 7:30pm, Sat & Sun 2pm and 7:30pm.

Compensation:

The position pays $925/week on a LORT D contract. W2 Wages paid biweekly on Fridays, issued by the University of Chicago. All University of Chicago employees accrue paid sick time in accordance with the City of Chicago’s Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.
