The Last Song

Activity Preparation

  • Supplies:
    • Writing materials (print or digital)
    • Musical instrument of choice (optional)

This activity will take approximately 15 – 20 minutes.

Learning Sequence

  1. Using your viewing of An Iliad as inspiration, think about what “songs” should be sung for the last time? Brainstorm a list of ideas. (~4 minutes)
  2. Review your list of ideas and choose one idea to work with. (~1 minutes)
  3. Next, craft a short speech (or “song”) about your chosen topic, and why it should be laid to rest. Consider pushing yourself to sing extemporaneously, or, if you are musically inclined, to compose a bit of accompaniment using your instrument of choice. (~10-20 minutes)
