Spotlight Reading: The Mighty Gents

by Richard Wesley
directed by Pemon Rami

Feb 11, 2019

Court’s Spotlight Reading Series aims to rediscover plays by writers of color largely missing from the American stage and absent from the traditional canon.

Monday, February 11 | 6:30PM
Green Line Performing Arts Center
329 E. Garfield Blvd. (map)
Free. Limited seating.

The Story: Led by their old ringleader, Frankie, The Mighty Gents desperately attempt to resurrect their glory days in one, final raid. Presented on Broadway in 1978, Richard Wesley’s play mines the desolation and desperation of a once-prolific gang to lyrically indict how society entraps black youth.

The Spotlight Reading series is made possible in part by a grant from

The Joyce Foundation
