Privacy Policy

Court Theatre is the sole owner of the information collected on www.CourtTheatre.org. Court Theatre may ask for personally identifiable information from our users at several different points on our Web site.

Creating/Maintaining a Customer Account. In order to use certain features of this Web site (i.e., subscribing to our eNewsletter, purchasing theater tickets, making donations, or ordering subscriptions online), you must have a customer account with Court Theatre. When registering for a new account, you will be asked to give contact information (such as name, address and email address). We use this information to contact you about the services on our site in which you have expressed interest.

Ticket/Subscription Orders, Donations. If you purchase theatre tickets or other products or services, or make a donation to us online, we request certain personally identifiable information (such as name, email, and shipping address) from you in order to create and maintain a customer account online. You must provide contact information (such as name, email, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). For your protection, we do not retain credit card information on this website. We use this information for billing purposes and to process your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this information to contact you.

Surveys or Contests. From time-to-time we may provide you the opportunity to participate in contests or surveys on our site. If you participate, we will request certain personally identifiable information from you. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose this information. The requested information typically includes contact information (such as name and address), preference information (what kinds of performances and added services you prefer) and demographic information (such as zip code).

We use this information to help us make decisions about the plays we choose each season and about the special programs and services that we offer. We also use this information to improve and analyze our customer service.

We may use a third party service provider to conduct these surveys or contests; if so, that company will be prohibited from using our users’ personally identifiable information for any other purpose. We will not share the personally identifiable information you provide through a contest or survey with other third parties unless we give you prior notice and choice.

Communications from this Site

News, Special Offers and Updates. We will occasionally send you information on upcoming productions, news about our season, and about special events, discounts and offers. Out of respect for your privacy, you may choose to opt-out of these updates and special offers. Please see “Choice/Opt-out” below.

Important Service-related Announcements. We will send you strictly service-related announcements on rare occasions when it is necessary to do so. For instance, if a performance is cancelled unexpectedly, or if there are changes to how you can access our website or box office, we might send you an email. These communications are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to opt-out of these communications. See “Choice/Opt-out” below.

Customer Service. Based upon the personally identifiable information you provide us, we will communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to provide the services you request, and to mange your account. We will communicate with you by email or telephone, in accordance with your preference.

Profile. We do not store information using cookies, log files, clear gifs, or third-party sources to create a “profile” of your preferences. However, our application uses Microsoft Active Server Page technology to maintain your session information on the web server as you proceed through the various pages of the application. Our page depends on a Session Cookie so that our application can “remember” your session information from page to page. This cookie is session oriented, not persistent. Information you enter at the beginning of a session will be accessible for the rest of the session, but will be cleared from the server when you leave our page.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable). We share aggregated demographic information about our user base with our partners, funders, and advertisers. This information does not identify individual users. Such aggregated information may be included in grant applications, funding requests, internal and external marketing reports, and information-trading packages made available to other area theaters.

We do not link aggregate user data with personally identifiable information.

Personally Identifiable Information. Court Theatre, as practice, does not sell personal information to commercial marketers. However, we do on occasion trade lists of patron contact information with other not-for-profit arts organizations on a reciprocal basis. When providing identifiable information to our website, you always have option to opt-out of being placed on such a list.

Agents. We use an outside credit card processing company to bill you for goods and services. This company does not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any other purposes.

Legal Disclaimer. We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our Web site.

Choice/Opt-out. We provide you the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of having your personally identifiable information used for certain purposes, when we ask for this information. For example, if you purchase tickets but do not wish to receive any additional marketing material from us, you can indicate your preference on our order form.

If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications, you may opt-out of receiving them by following the instructions included in each newsletter or communication.

You will be notified when your personal information is collected by any third party that is not our service provider, so you can make an informed choice as to whether or not to share your information with that party.

Cookies. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes. We use session ID cookies on this site, in order to make it easier for you to navigate. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser.

If you reject cookies, you may still view our site, but you will be unable to use the online ticket sales service.

This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by this site only and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

We encourage you to be aware when you leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information.

Security. The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number) on our order forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however.
