Five on the Black Hand Side (Spotlight Reading Series)

A citywide, yearlong event to rediscover classic plays by writers of color.

Taking matters into her own hands, Mrs. Brooks starts to embrace non-conformity and sets in motion an epic battle of wits with her husband. Charlie L. Russell’s 1969 play tackles politics, race, and women’s liberation with sharp wit and biting humor.

Join us as we bring together professional directors and actors to showcase these rarely performed plays all over Chicago—for free.
