Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is directed by Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director Charles Newell. This is his final directing project as Artistic Director before he transitions into his role of Senior Artistic Consultant this coming summer.
“Working on this play has been revelatory,” he says. “Stoppard is often regarded as ‘too clever by half’, but – at Court – we’re committed to the emotional journeys of his plays, as much as we are the intellectual. The necessity of discovering who you are is a deeply human need, and that is the journey that is ultimately at the heart of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. As I embark on the next steps of my own journey and transition out of my role as Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director, this message feels particularly apt. This play could not be coming at a more perfect time.”
