Tituba FAQs
Tituba will be performed in the University of Chicago’s historic Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, a few blocks from Court Theatre’s regular home, from December 10 – 20.
Because this is a new venue for us, we’ve compiled answers to the questions we expect most. If you don’t find what you need, please contact the Box Office at (773) 753-4472.

Location and Getting There
Where is Rockefeller Memorial Chapel?
Rockefeller Memorial Chapel is located at 5850 S. Woodlawn Avenue, Chicago, IL 60637, on the University of Chicago campus, approximately a 10-15-minute walk from Court Theatre at 5535 S. Ellis Avenue.
Upon arrival, look for Court Theatre signage at the entrance of the chapel to guide you to the correct doors.
Where can I park?
A small parking lot is available south of ISAC (Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures) on University Avenue. Street parking is also available in the surrounding neighborhood. We recommend allowing extra time to find parking, as availability may vary on evenings and weekends.
What if I show up at Court Theatre by mistake?
Don’t worry — our Box Office staff will be monitoring calls and messages right up until showtime and Court Theatre staff can direct you to Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. To avoid any confusion, we strongly encourage you to:
- Read all reminder emails we send before your performance date.
- Check the address in your ticket confirmation before you leave home.
- Look for directional signage posted at Court Theatre on performance nights.
Is there public transit nearby?
Yes. Rockefeller Memorial Chapel is served by the Metra Electric Line (59th Street stop) and several CTA bus routes along S. Ellis Avenue and 59th Street. Check the CTA website or Google Maps for current schedules.
Box Office and Tickets
Will there be a Box Office on-site at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel?
Yes. A remote Box Office will be set up at Rockefeller Chapel before each performance. Court Theatre staff will be on-site to assist with will-call pickup, ticket questions, and accessibility requests. We will also be available by phone at (773) 753-4472 until showtime.
Can I purchase tickets at the door?
Subject to availability, tickets may be purchased at the on-site Box Office before each performance. We accept both credit/debit cards and cash. We encourage you to purchase in advance at courttheatre.org or by calling our Box Office at (773) 753-4472.
How does general admission seating work?
Seating for Tituba is general admission. Everyone who purchases a ticket is guaranteed a seat, with seating sections (Preferred, Standard, or Value) determined by ticket type. There are no specific assigned seats, and seating sections will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis once doors open.
Venue and Seating
What is Rockefeller Memorial Chapel like as a performance venue?
Rockefeller Chapel is a stunning historic space with excellent sightlines. Seating will be configured on the main floor only.
What should I expect from the seats?
Seats in Rockefeller Memorial Chapel are fixed wooden pews in rows all on one level. Feel free to bring your own seat cushion!
What if I arrive late?
Late seating is at the discretion of the House Manager. If you arrive after the performance has begun, you may not be guaranteed a seat in your preferred section. We strongly encourage you to arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the start of the performance.
Accessibility
Is Rockefeller Memorial Chapel accessible?
Yes. All performance seating for Tituba will be on the main floor, which is fully accessible without stairs. This venue is accessible to those who use wheelchairs and mobility scooters. For more information about our accessibility offerings, please contact the Box Office.
Restrooms are located in the basement. They are accessible by elevator.
Are assisted listening devices available?
We are working to confirm assisted listening device availability at this venue.
Accessible Performances
- Touch Tour, Audio Description, ASL Interpretation: Saturday, December 19 at 2:00pm
- Open Captioning: Sunday, December 20 at 5:00pm
Food and Drink
Will Court Theatre be selling concessions or drinks?
No concessions will be available for this production. Eating or drinking is prohibited during events or visits inside the chapel, and there is a water station with cups in the lobby.
We encourage you to explore the many nearby dining options in Hyde Park before or after your scheduled performance.
