Madison Blackwood Joins Court Staff as Associate Director of Development
Exciting news! We’re thrilled to share that Madison Blackwood has joined Court Theatre staff as the new Associate Director of Development.
Madison is an interdisciplinary artist, creative producer, and development professional with a background in new work development and theatre education. In her role at Court, Madison will support the theatre’s annual fundraising efforts, strategic events, and development communications.
“I am most excited about the opportunity to elevate and advocate for the work of Court Theatre, to be part of an inimitable theatre company inspired by the big questions and the practical implications of producing the classics for modern audiences,” shares Madison. “It’s an incredible joy to support accessibility, artistic freedom, and the big risks of new work for the sake of paradigm-shifting.”
In addition to her work at Court, Madison is a member of the literary committee at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, where she served as associate dramaturg for the world premiere production of PIVOT by Alex Lubischer. Her professional theatre experience spans a wide range of Midwestern and UK-based companies, including St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, Indiana Repertory Theatre, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Indianapolis Shakespeare Company, Phoenix Theatre, COCA St. Louis, Stages St. Louis, Finborough Theatre, Jasmin Vardimon Company, and Performing International Plays.
Madison holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies / Dramaturgy from Ball State University and a Master of Arts in Creative Producing from the University of Kent. Her graduate research focused on arts funding in the United States, accessibility and inclusion in the theatre industry, and public arts education access models related to sustainable audience development and social and economic growth.
