| AIDS marches | (n) refers to protests, demonstrations, and fundraising efforts to support HIV/AIDS relief, reduce stigma, raise awareness, and fund research. |
| Besotted | (adj) infatuated. |
| Copenhagen | (n) the capital city of Denmark. |
| Dyke | (n) a derogatory term for a lesbian, especially a butch lesbian. It has been reclaimed by lesbians, but is considered offensive when used by straight people. |
| Expat | (n) a person who leaves their home country to live in another one, usually not permanently. |
| LIMP’M | (abbreviation) an acronym used in the play for the three-day weekends that families consider in custody arrangements; it stands for Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples Day, MLK Day, Presidents’ Day, and Memorial Day. |
| Matisse | (n) Reference to a painting by Henri Matisee, a French artist famous for his use of color (1869-1954). |
| Mediator | (n) a professional who is trained to mediate a conflict between parties, especially during divorces or other legal disputes. |
| Notarize | (v) to sign and acknowledge with a notary public, who is authorized to certify official legal documents. |
| Open marriage | (n) an ethically non-monogamous arrangement within a marriage in which each member of the couple dates or has relationships outside of the marriage; the guidelines, rules, and expectations for how these relationships are navigated varies from couple to couple. |
| Periphery | (n) the edge; at the border or outside the center of a space. |
| Savant | (n) from the French, meaning someone with a great deal of knowledge, especially in one particular area. |
| Subaru | (n) a make of car, stereotypically favored by lesbians. |
| Topiary | (n) an ornamental plant that is trimmed and trained to grow in a particular shape. |
