KEVIN IEGA JEFF was born in New York and discovered his calling at The Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center, where he witnessed how dance can connect people on a deeper level. Later, at The Juilliard School, he refined his technique and learned that discipline can elevate creativity.
On Broadway, Jeff performed in The Wiz and Comin’ Uptown during the late ’70s, experiencing firsthand how music and movement captivate audiences.
In 1986, he choreographed Spike Lee’s classic She’s Gotta Have It, and later performed at the 1994 Academy Awards. These milestones confirmed his deep belief that dance can resonate powerfully on any stage.
In 1995, Jeff co-founded Deeply Rooted Dance Theater in Chicago, a hub for artistic excellence and cultural authenticity. After nearly three decades of shaping its vision, he assumed the role of Creative Director for Deeply Rooted Productions. Today, he continues to contribute to this nurturing space where dance inspires, educates, and unites communities.
Founded in 2023, iegaMOVES represents the next step in expanding his mission—creating, mentoring, and consulting with artists and institutions to bring the transformative power of dance to life.
