CHARLOTTE BRATHWAITE is a director and interdisciplinary artist who creates experiences where sound, movement, image, and story converge—illuminating diasporic life, memory, and radical possibility. Her practice is immersive, bringing together artists, scholars, young people, and communities to unfold stories of migration, resistance, and belonging. Brathwaite has collaborated with noted artists including Meshell Ndegeocello, Peter Sellars, Julie Mehretu, Jacqueline Woodson, and Kyle Abraham. Her work has been presented at The Shed, Whitney Museum of American Art, The Public Theater, Park Avenue Armory, Harlem Stage, BRIC, La MaMa, and internationally at the Holland Festival, Hebbel am Ufer, Dakar Biennale, and Chale Wote Festival. Recipient of the Doris Duke Artist, Creative Capital, and Princess Grace awards as well as a United States Artists Fellowship. She has held academic appointments at MIT and Amherst College.
