Court Theatre Joins the Hyde Park Jazz Festival Court Theatre is proud to be hosting jazz singer Maggie Brown as part of the 3rd Annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival on Saturday, September 26. With Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom opening the same evening, we thought it only fitting to celebrate the tradition of jazz in Chicago with a live performance from Maggie Brown, jazz singer and Chicago native.
This one-time only performance will take place at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 26. The entire festival, including this event at Court, is FREE to the public so please come and join us! Here are the details:

When: Saturday, September 26 at 3:00 pm.
While you’re in the area, head over to the the James W. Wagner Main Stage at the Midway Plaisance and find the Court Theatre booth. There you can chat with Court staff, including Artistic Director Charlie Newell and Resident Dramaturg Drew Dir, about Ma Rainey, the upcoming season, jazz, and life in general!

Your comments and questions are part of the discourse as Professor Bevington and the artistic staff provide context and probe the deeper issues of each play in Court Theatre’s season. One Wednesday performance of each play features this popular in-depth discussion. These conversations begin immediately after the performance, last approximately 30 minutes, and are free and open to all—even if you saw the show on another night, come back and join us!
