Court Theatre began its exploration of American musical theatre 6 years ago with our popular staging of My Fair Lady, and with each subsequent production—James Joyce’s “The Dead,” Guys & Dolls, Man of La Mancha, Raisin, and now Carousel—audience support and feedback has helped us further refine and expand upon Court’s singularly intimate and emotionally resonant approach to this quintessentially American theatrical art form. We hope you will join us at Court Theatre as powerful storytelling and beautiful music are combined to present this classic tale in a new light.

Interview with Music Director Doug Peck

  • "Look Inside" is the new area of Court's website where you can find expanded information about Court Theatre productions.

  • Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved musical Carousel was adapted from Ferenc Molnár’s 1909 play Liliom. The original musical production opened on Broadway in 1956 and ran for 890 performances.

  • Rogers and Hammerstein’s Carousel was extremely innovative for its time; as one of the first musicals to contain a tragic plot, it helped to shape the future of American musical theatre. Time Magazine named it the best musical of the Twentieth Century.
