Designers

JACK MAGAW (Scenic Designer) works as a professional scenic and lighting designer and is currently adjunct faculty at DePaul University. Most recently, he designed scenery for A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Ron OJ Parson, at Studio Arena Theatre in Buffalo, NY, Steppenwolf Theatre’s production of The Fall to Earth and Pegasus Players’ Broadway Bound and Sunday in the Park with George for which he received an After Dark Award and a Joseph Jefferson Citation nomination. He also assisted John Culbert with designs for Court Theatre’s Guys and Dolls and The Romance Cycle, and Lyric Opera of Chicago’s new production of Regina, and designed scenery for Death of a Salesman and Cabaret and scenery and lighting for The Madwoman of Chaillot at Loyola University as well as scenery for numerous productions at Victory Gardens Theater including Bluff and Ariadne's Thread. Upcoming projects include Copenhagen and Topdog/Underdog for Madison Repertory Theatre, Kimberly Akimbo for Milwaukee Chamber Theatre and The Subject Was Roses for Writers’ Theatre.

JANICE PYTEL (Costume Designer) includes in her recent costume design credits: Winesburg, Ohio¸ a new musical produced by About Face Theatre; On the Record with the About Face Youth Theatre; and Le Nozze di Figaro with L'Opera Piccola. Her most prestigious credit to date is as costume designer for the Tony Award wining production of I Am My Own Wife on Broadway. Additional credits include: Eurydice with Piven Theatre workshop; Yellowman with Next Theatre; Our Lady of 121st Street and The Drawer Boy with Steppenwolf Theatre; Pulp, Fascination, I Am My Own Wife, and Theatre District with About Face Theatre; and Speaking in Tongues, Great Society, and The Cider House Rules, Parts 1 and 2 with Famous Door Theatre. She has also worked with Apple Tree Theatre, Griffin Theatre, and Indiana Repertory Theatre and has designed many shows in the Steppenwolf Upstairs Theatre.

JOSHUA HORVATH (Co-Sound Designer/Composer) is proud to be back at Court after designing Guys and Dolls and The Romance Cycle. Recent projects include: Electricidad, Proof (Goodman), Tempest and Titus Andronicus (Milwaukee Shakespeare Theatre), Homebody/Kabul and Les Blancs (University of Madison), Taking Care, Jesus Hopped the A’ Train, and Winesburg, Ohio (Steppenwolf), Nocturne (Naked Eye), They All Fall Down (Lookingglass), Vintage Red and the Dust in the Road, Trivial Pursuits, and Devil's Sonata (Visions and Voices), Hannah and Martin (Timeline), Spitfire Grill, Jammin' with Pops, and Dirty Blonde (Apple Tree), Children of Eden (Northwestern University). He has designed Ghosts, Abducting Diana, Noises Off, Polaroid Stories, and Assassins at DePaul University where he teaches Sound Design and Technology. Assistant Sound Design: Bounce (Goodman). RAY NARDELLI (Co-Sound Designer/ Composer) has composed music and designed sound at Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Northlight Theatre, Apple Tree Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, The Gift Theatre, Northwestern Theatre, DePaul Theatre, Notre Dame Summer Shakespeare, Meadow Brook Theatre, Oak Park Festival Theatre, Dolphinback Theatre, American Girl Theatre, Skylight Opera, and Wright State University Theatre. Assistant Sound Design credits at the Goodman, Steppenwolf Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club and at the Next Theatre. Ray has recorded, mixed and produced CDs for the musicals The Sound Of One and La Luna Muda. Film credits include Stray Dogs, Pretty Ladies, & Crush. Ray teaches Sound Design at DePaul and Northwestern Universities.

DEBORAH ROBERTSON (Choreographer) is a movement specialist, choreographer and actress who has worked on and off Broadway, in regional theatre, industrials, film and television. She is an Associate Professor, Head of the BFA Professional Actor Training Program and Director of Undergraduate Advisement at Northern Illinois University and a faculty member of the Actors Center of Chicago. She has recently returned from Russia where she choreographed a production of The Birds by Aristophanes which played at the Moscow Theatre Studio. In Chicago she has worked with Court Theatre, Victory Gardens, Famous Door Theatre and the Irish Rep. She is a member of Actor’s Equity and Screen Actors Guild.
