CHARLES
NEWELL
(Director/Artistic Director) has been Artistic Director
of Court Theatre since 1994, where he has directed over 20 productions.
He made his Chicago directorial debut in 1993 with The Triumph
of Love, which won the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Production.
Directorial credits at Court include The Romance Cycle, James
Joyce’s "The Dead," Hamlet, Piano, The Invention
of Love, The Little Foxes, The Cherry Orchard, Nora, Misanthrope,
and Travesties. Mr. Newell has also directed at
the Guthrie Theatre (Resident Director: The History Cycle,
Cymbeline), Arena Stage, John Houseman’s The Acting
Company (Staff Repertory Director), the California and Alabama
Shakespeare Festivals, Juilliard, and New York University; he
is the recipient of the 1992 TCG Alan Schneider Director Award
and is a multiple Jeff Award Recipient/Nominee. He sits on the
Board of Directors of Theatre Communications Group and has served
on several panels for the National Endowment for the Arts. He
made his directorial debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago this
fall with Marc Blitzstein’s Regina.
DOUG PECK (Music
Director) is delighted to continue his relationship with
Charlie Newell and Court Theatre, having music directed James
Joyce’s “The Dead” (2003). Other music
direction credits include The Last Five Years (Syndicate
Productions), Into the Woods (Triton College), This
Just In: The Waa-Mu Show 2003 (Northwestern University),
and two summers as Music Director of the Wagon Wheel Theatre,
with favorites like Phantom, Titanic, and Hello,
Dolly! Peck is a Northwestern graduate, and also works as
a vocal coach for theatre and opera singers.
TAMMY
MADER
(Choreographer) includes among her Chicagoland credits:
Kiss Me Kate (Jeff Nomination), Anything Goes (Jeff Nomination),
and My One And Only (Jeff Award) for Drury Lane Theater Oakbrook
and Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? for Drury
Lane Evergreen Park. Regional credits include Singin’ In
The Rain, Grand Hotel, 42nd St., Pump Boys And Dinettes, Meet
Me In St. Louis, and Swingin’ On A Star: The Johnny Burke
Musical for Theater at the Center in Munster, Indiana. She also
teaches dance in the theater department at Columbia College.
DEBORAH
WOLFSON (Assistant Director) is thrilled
to work on Guys and Dolls. Previously, she assistant
directed JoAnne Akalaitis’s Phèdre at Court
and worked on Tina Landau’s Beauty at the La Jolla
Playhouse. She will be graduating from the University of Chicago
in June, having spent four years studying art, film, and theater.
Deborah would like to thank her family for being great and Charlie
for such an amazing experience.
