Slide ShowGORDANA SVILAR (Scenic Designer) is a New York based designer who previously designed MARY STUART and LIFE'S A DREAM at Court. Recent projects include Flying Dutchman directed by Chen She Zheng at Spoleto Festival, Las Meninas (world premiere) at San Jose Repertory, Tosca for the Opera Festival of New Jersey at McCarter Theatre, Opera Omaha, and Manitoba Opera; Woyzeck of Sarajevo and A Midsummer Nights Dream for the Lincoln Center Theatre Director's Lab; Jazz Train (Part 3), choreographed by Donald Bird and Pelleas at Melisande for the Romanian National Theatre. Ms. Svilar is a faculty member at Bard College and she designed a number of projects (Betty's Summer Vacation, Fefu and her Friends, Irma Vep) for Bard Theatre. She collaborated with Robert Wilson on several projects including Dreamplay for Stockholm's Stadsteater. Ms. Silvar is a native of Croatia where she was trained in architecture. She received an MFA from NYU in 1995.


KAYE VOYCE (Costume Designer) previously designed costumes for Court Theatre's productions of MARY STUART, LIFE'S A DREAM and TARTUFFE. Recent theatre credits include Valparaiso (Steppenwolf), Romeo and Juliet (Great Lakes Theater Festival), True Love (The Zipper Theater), Twelfth Night (The Juilliard School), The Lady from the Sea (Intiman Theater), Arms and the Man (Roundabout Theater Company). Recent opera work includes The Diary of One Who Vanished (Tulsa Opera), Powder Her Face (Long Beach Opera), Peter Brook's Carmen (Florida Grand Opera), and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Wolftrap Opera). Upcoming work includes Offenbach's Bluebeard at Glimmerglass Opera and New York City Opera.


JOEL MORITZ (Lighting Designer) designed lights for Court's production of THE CHAIRS last season. He has designed for the stage in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and internationally. New York credits include Just As If directed by Andrei Belgrader, The Tempest (Judith Shakespeare Co.), and Lion in the Street (29th St. Rep). Here in Chicago, his work has appeared in Bee Luther Hatchee at Northlight Theater; This Is Our Youth and Disappeared at Roadworks and Steppenwolf; 28 and Her Name Was Danger at Lookingglass; Dealer's Choice, Ecstasy, Charles Mee's Orestes, The Lights (Jeff Nomination), and End of the Road (Jeff Nomination) with Roadworks Productions; Dream Boy (Jeff Award), A Home at the End of the World (Jeff Nomination), and In the Heart of America (Jeff Nomination) at About Face Theatre; Eleven Rooms of Proust (directed by Mary Zimmerman); Vices with Fox Theatricals; six productions with James Bohnen and Remy Bumppo; and Voice of Good Hope and Among Friends at Victory Gardens. Other credits include Ecstasy at The Odyssey in Los Angeles and selected works by Joe Pintaro at the Traverse Theatre and Boys Life at the Assembly Theater in Edinburgh, Scotland. Joel is a founding member of Roadworks Productions and a member of Cerqua Rivera Art Experience.


ANDRE PLUESS and BEN SUSSMAN (Sound Designers) have designed 13 plays at Court, most recently HAMLET and MARY STUART. Phèdre is their third production with JoAnne Akalaitis. Design and composition credits include projects for Victory Gardens (resident designers), Roadworks (ensemble), About Face (associate artists), Steppenwolf, Northlight, 7 Stages in Atlanta, Mark Taper Forum and Odyssey Theatres in L.A., Berkeley Rep., Seattle Rep., and the N.Y. Drama League. They designed sound for Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses, which is currently running on Broadway. They have received four Joseph Jefferson Citations, a Jeff Award, an L.A. Ovation Award and Drama Critics Circle Award for music and sound. Andre is an artistic associate with Lookingglass Theatre and on the audio staff at Blue Man Group, Chicago. Ben and Andre met while undergraduates at the University of Chicago and are always happy to be at Court.
