JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD:
Why music-theatre at Court?
Tuesday, December 3 at 7pm
at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington)
Admission is free!
In spring 2002 Court Theatre produced for the first-time in its 47-year-history one of the greatest representatives of the classic American musical-theatre canon, MY FAIR LADY. Patrons and critics raved about the emotionally-engaging telling of this intimate chamber-size production while others asked the straight-forward question: Why at Court Theatre? Join Court Theatre Artistic Director Charles Newell (and director of THE DEAD) and MY FAIR LADY director Gary Griffin in an intimate dialogue about the history of musical theatre, the development of contemporary music-theatre works, and the need for the re-examination of musicals from the past 60-plus years, all framed within the expanding definition of what we mean by classic theatre at Court Theatre. Call the Court Box Office at (773) 753-4472 for reservations.
